Estate Planning Fees

Michelle charges a flat fee for most estate planning services. This allows for transparency and predictability to the client about the cost of services, and simplifies Michelle’s office and billing procedures for a win-win.

Basic Estate Plan: Includes a simple will (with no tax planning or trusts for minor beneficiaries), health care directive, health care and financial powers of attorney, and anatomical gifts/burial instructions. Appropriate for clients with assets below the estate tax threshold: Couple - $1000; Individual - $750.

Will Only: Includes a simple will with no tax planning or trusts for minor beneficiaries. Couple - $600; Individual - $500.

Community Property Agreement: Includes a Community Property agreement, usually added to a Basic Estate Plan - $300.

Tax Planning Estate Plan: Includes a tax planning will, health care directive, health care and financial powers of attorney, and anatomical gifts/burial instructions. Appropriate for clients with assets at or near the estate tax threshold. Couple - $1,500.

Revocable Living Trust: Includes a trust agreement, certification of trust, pour over wills, health care and financial durable powers of attorney, anatomical gifts/burial instructions and preparation and submission of ONE quit claim deed and real estate tax affidavit to transfer real property into the trust. - $2,000.00. Attorney fees for additional quit claim deeds and real estate tax affidavits are $250 per property. Please note that each county recorder’s office charges approximately $250.00 as a recording fee for each deed, and this cost is in addition to any attorney fees.

Powers of Attorney Only: Includes a health care directive, health care and financial powers of attorney, anatomical gifts/burial instructions. Couple - $300; Individual - $200.

Changes and Updates to Estate Plan: Michelle is happy to help you update your estate plan. This service is billed at Michelle’s hourly rate of $300/hour. Simple changes and re-signing of estate planning documents usually cost about $300.

ARAG & MetLife Legal Plans: Some employers (such as Microsoft) offer their employees coverage through legal plans. I am a network attorney for both ARAG and MetLife Legal Plans, and am happy to accept those benefits for estate planning.

Additional fees may be charged for estates that require more advanced planning techniques than the documents and services described above, as agreed to by the client and the attorney. For additional information, please contact the Law Office of Michelle Geri Farris.
